Venue Description:
Opened in April 2003, Aura has established itself as one of London’s hottest nightspots, not only for its late night dancing but also for its excellent food, outstanding cocktails and great music.
Nestling discreetly on St. James’s Street in the heart of Mayfair, the restaurant and club combine what has been described as a rare mixture of extravagance and minimalism. Aura fuses lavish sensuality with understated design touches. A wooden decked staircase leads from St. James’s down to the restaurant / club. A sleek hallway leads to one large room with a mahogany cocktail bar stretching across the back wall, above which are projected iconic movies and imagery.
Rich plum leather banquettes clad the three other walls over which are wide strips of tinted mirror complimenting the two impressive modernist chandeliers which once lit up the ballroom of the Claridges. An array of comfortable sofas and armchairs are arranged in the centre of the space. All the tables are hydraulically adjustable for either dining or sipping cocktails as required and the lighting system is multi faceted, washing the space with whatever colour and intensity is desired to set the mood. Hence the space at Aura can be transformed into many different guises. The overall atmosphere is evocative of a laid back New York lounge bar.
Aura’s style lends itself to the influential and international jet setters for whom the world is a small place. Their members belong to that exclusive crowd who party in St. Tropez, Sardinia, Paris, Milan and New York.
The head chef has created a diverse menu combining simplicity with intricate twists of ingenuity. As the evening continues and Aura’s diners are fully satisfied, the space transforms into the bar and club and the DJ picks up the pace. Aura’s parties are some of the most talked about in London having in the past included some very high profile celebrities and prestigious companies. The walnut and leather bar serves exceptional cocktails and offers an extensive selection of extremely rare spirits.
The combination of style, exclusivity excellent food and music, rare spirits and innovative cocktails makes this Mayfair club one of London’s finest destination venues
