Venue Description:
Kensington Place was the first of London’s contemporary brasseries and where the explosive growth of the London restaurant scene really began over 20 years ago. When it first opened, London had never seen anything quite like it. Its architect, Julyan Wickham, had created a glass fronted, bold, colourful open space in which customers could sit and watch Notting Hill go by. Everybody knows Kensington Place – the noise, the food, those chairs, the whole see and be seen riotous table hopping buzz of the place – but do you all know about the oasis of calm and comfort just behind the mural that is The Room at Kensington Place? The Room seats up to 40 and can hold as many as 70 for drinks & canapés. It can be hired for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The Room, like the restaurant, was designed by Julyan Wickham, and has a bright and airy feel with a high vaulted ceiling, in the centre of which sits a generous skylight. The windows at one end of the room looks out onto Kensington Church Street, which can be hidden by blinds for a little more privacy if needed. The Room is also supplied with air-conditioning and its own private bathrooms.
