Matter occupies a purpose built, 43, 000 square feet space within London’s O2 complex. It comprises 3 levels, 4 bars, 3 dance floors, 2 main music & entertainment rooms, two balconies over-looking the main space and an exclusive VIP bar. 

Matter is due to open on the 18^th September 2008 and will be a unique environment able to accommodate live & club music performance as well as all manner of corporate and private sector event production.

Matter is available now for show-rounds and visits and is ready to book for your event. Our team is geared towards ensuring that your event is tailor made to your specification, offering the highest level of service & quality from concept through to creation and completion. We can cater for events from 200 to 2500 in varying formats.

On the floor above, balconies provide views over the stage, dance floor and DJ booth. The solid balustrade incorporates a generous drinks shelf to encourage viewers to the edge. Bars on the ground and first floors are linear cast concrete identically located on the same end wall to each floor, with the back wall and ceilings lined in perforated steel panels concealing acoustic absorption. Seating is minimal on the ground floor with the focus on the dance floor and the stepped amphitheatre style seating enclosing it at either corner.

In Room 2, the concrete walls of the existing space have been lined with perforated steel panels backlit with LED lighting – allowing the entire wall to change colour or pulsate at will. In contrast to the linear bars of the other areas, this room has an island bar of zinc, accented by two feature pendant lights, and with its own DJ Booth and dance floor, offers a more intimate space within the venue.

Opposite the Sky Bridge and balcony surrounding the two-storey void, a series of booths offer intimate deep-set banquettes finished in a rich, soft oxblood leather. This floor has a completely separate entrance via private lift or spiral staircase and it is here that the Sky Bridge can be accessed. The second level dance floor is another technical masterpiece, with a floor of LCD screens working concurrently to display programmable content and operating in tandem with LCD screens mounted to the ceiling and the surrounding walls.

Offering the best platform for live performance in the UK from late 2008, matter is a masterful mix of the best technology intelligently accommodated within a brutalist informed interior design, allowing the two elements to work in synergy to create a venue that fits within its setting at the iconic O2 yet is worlds away.
