The Mermaid (formerly theatre) is located on the north bank of the Thames at Blackfriars and is located a minutes’ walk away from the tube and mainline station. At the heart of The Mermaid is the main Auditorium which has tiered seating, great sightlines, plenty of leg room and can hold up to 600 persons. There is an impressive stage which is flexible enough to hold any kind of set whether it is formal or informal and is suitable for back projection. There is direct access to the stage from street level via a ramp The Mermaid has is an in house technical team on site and a full range of audio visual equipment that is available to hire. The venue is also fitted with Wi-Fi which means the client can be offered up to 100Mb of Internet bandwidth. The Auditorium is suitable for AGM's, conferences, product launches, fashion shows, presentations, comedy nights as well as music and dance events.

On the first floor there is an exhibition space, Newgate, which can hold up to 40 stands, 3m x 2m in shell scheme format, this space can also be broken down into 4 smaller meeting rooms which can hold 14 - 220 delegates with the use of moveable walls. Dinners for up to 300 can also be served in this area. This room can be used in conjunction with the Auditorium or as a standalone space; there are an additional 2 meeting rooms which hold 50 up to 120. All of these rooms have natural daylight and air conditioning and some of them have blackout capabilities.

The River Room suite has its own access and compromises of two rooms that have fabulous views across the Thames of the Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe, Millennium bridge and The Shard. The lower room can hold up to 180 for a drinks reception and 80 for a seated dinner and the upper room can hold up to 400 for a drinks reception and 150 for dinner. These rooms are ideal for Christmas parties, dinners and drinks receptions. The Mermaid is a flexible venue, and can accommodate most types of meeting, conferences, and a variety of different type of events. The rooms and spaces hold numbers ranging from 20 up to 600, all the rooms with the exception of the auditorium have natural daylight.

River Rooms

British summertime is nearly upon us and The River Rooms is the perfect location for any kind of celebration. We have several packages to cater for a simple drinks party to an extravagant celebration. With expansive views over the River Thames it’s also the perfect place to take in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee River Pageant; truly a room with a view.

Situated at the front of the building with its own entrance is the River Room suite. This comprises of two rooms, the Lower and Upper room both which overlook the Thames have great views of Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and London newest iconic building The Shard

Lower Room

The Lower River room and has an intimate elegant charm and river views. The room is ideal for drink and canapé receptions, parties and can be themed if required. This room is self-contained and has an internal and external staircase that connects to the Upper room and could be used in conjunction with each other or independently.

Upper Room

With stylish colours and elegant charm The Upper River room has floor- to- ceiling windows with stunning views over the Thames. This room can be used in conjunction with the Lower River room or independently. Suitable for a drinks reception up to 400 persons or a formal dinner /Christmas party up to 140.
